Description
The antiseptic, antifungal properties, the local analgesic effect, and the ability to penetrate deeply into the wound are the most notable qualities. Upon contact with the skin, the hydrogel gradually and effectively cools the damaged surface.
After five to ten minutes, the skin temperature fluctuates about 5 degrees Celsius below the normal value. This reduces the risk of hypothermia, which often occurs in the later stages in burn victims, to almost none. Burnshield also reduces edema formation by approximately 50%. After applying the sterile dressing to the wound, cooling can be maintained in a covered form, as an occlusive dressing (with non-absorbent material), for 6 to 12 hours.
