Description
Slide the tick twee pincers sideways over the entire tick in the V-notch so that it gets clamped. Now turn the tweezers 2 to 3 times to the left and pull the tick loose. Disinfect the bite wound with disinfectant solution after removing the tick.
Research has shown that Lyme disease is caused by a tick bite. Experts have determined that between 2 and 4 hours after the tick has attached itself, the bacteria can enter the bloodstream. Therefore, the tick must always be removed as quickly as possible. Lyme disease can cause conditions affecting the skin, glands, heart, joints, and the nervous system. A preventive medication is not available; however, early detection of the disease may result in a course of antibiotics leading to recovery in some cases.
It is a misconception that ticks can be removed with a little alcohol, oil, butter, or greasy ointment. The use of a regular tweezers is also strongly discouraged. Ticks must be removed completely. The most suitable instrument for removing ticks is the tick tweezers.
