Description
The antiseptic, antifungal properties, the local analgesic effect, and the ability to penetrate deeply into the wound are the most striking qualities. In contact with the skin, the hydrogel gradually cools the damaged surface and controls the cooling.
After five to ten minutes, the skin temperature drops approximately 5 degrees Celsius below the normal value. Hypothermia, which often occurs in a later stage in burn victims, is therefore almost excluded. Burnshield also reduces edema formation by about 50%. After applying the sterile compress to the wound, it can maintain cooling in a covered form, as an occlusive dressing (with non-absorbent material), for 6 to 12 hours.
