Description
A fire blanket is a blanket that can be placed over a fire to extinguish it at an early stage. The material consists of a non-flammable or very poorly flammable fabric, possibly coated with a fire-retardant agent.
By removing oxygen from the fire source, the fire is extinguished. The extinguishing medium is suitable for small fires.
A fire blanket is not a suitable extinguishing medium for a grease fire (also known as a fat fire or pan fire)!
